Sash Windows

A traditional British window design since Georgian times

Sash windows are typically found in Georgian and Victorian windows.  The 'classic' arrangement is three panes across and two up.  So with two sashes, we have the traditional 'six over six' sash window.

History

From a conservation angle, we would encourage you to repair your existing sash windows.  Only when they are 'beyond repair' would we advise replacement.  As well as making replacement sash windows, we make new sash windows for new buildings and home extensions.

Window specification

Our sash windows show great craftsmanship and are traditionally made.  We can advise on sash arrangement, proportions, glazing, ironmongery.  Double glazing or single glazing can be fitted.  The choice of timber is yours;  Accoya is often our first choice.  Our sash windows are spray painted to the equivalent of nine brush coats for longevity.
