A Sustainable, Modified Timber

We work with a range of timbers when crafting our joinery, however in recent years much of our factory finished joinery has been made from Accoya. Accoya is modified Radiata Pine which comes from sustainable forests. The timber is processed in a way that permanently alters its chemical composition making it water resistant, therefore dimensionally stable and near rot proof. Its stability and wide grain mean it is perfectly suited to be painted. Though it is more expensive than other timbers, its extended life and reduced maintenance costs make it much more economical.

Sustainability

Wood is endlessly renewable, as opposed to PVC and Aluminium which both come from non-renewable sources. • Accoya is manufactured from fast growing pine trees meaning that stocks can be quickly replenished, maximising the capacity of the land. At the end of life Accoya joinery can be recycled. Accoya is sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accredited forests. The long life of Accoya joinery also adds to its sustainability because it needs to be replaced far less frequently.
